Every day is filled with opportunities to learn. Nevertheless, children in rural and remote locations of the world do not have access to education at all. In everyday life, our increasingly technological world demands strong skills in science and mathematics as well as an understanding of humanities. Our mission is to improve rural education in arts, humanities, science, technology, and the preservation of our historical and cultural heritage.
ON THE ISSUES Education is the only passport to opportunities and human development. Our programs focus on providing the means to improve elementary and high school education in rural and remote areas in Chile, Peru, and Spain.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE The Count of Monte Alea Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit and cultural organization that provides grants to qualified non-profit institutions to help improve the quality of education. The Foundation works with carefully selected organizations in a long-term partnership. We organize fundraisings and create community awareness to direct donations to programs that assist in promoting rural education in science, technology, arts, and humanities.
PRESERVING OUR HISTORICAL HERITAGE The Foundation also makes grants in the areas of Arts and Culture, by promoting restoration and cataloging of books and notarized documents produced before 1836 and related to the Principality of Asturias in Spain. Seminars and workshops on medieval history, heraldry, and publication of research on these subject matters are sponsored by the Foundation.
"The deepest personal defeat suffered by human beings is constituted by the difference between what one was capable of becoming and what one has in fact become" Ashley Montagu
The Foundation is on Special Consultative Status with the Social and Economic Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations since April 10th 2015.
